Library Learning Commons!

The past 2 weeks in the Library Learning Commons Grade 1-6 students learned about Indiginious teachings. We read a book about sharing circles and talked about their importence in Indiginious culture. We talked about the number 4 and how this is an important number in Indiginious culture: 4 seasons, 4 directions, 4 elements, 4 sacred medicines. We played 4 corners because games were a way that Indiginious people passed on teaching to younger generations. Then we discussed the connection between all things. We watched a short video about the plains buffalo and how human choices reduced the buffalo numbers and this disrupted the connections of all this on the plains. We did a string activity to help students really see the connections we have and how our choices can affect others. Here are some photos from these classes.
